About J. Scott
J. Scott Hucks is a native of Myrtle Beach and was raised in Horry County, South Carolina. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and History from Coastal Carolina University before attending the University of South Carolina School of Law.
During and after law school, J. Scott worked with the South Carolina Department of Revenue, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, and the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where he served as an Assistant Solicitor. His experience as a prosecutor gave him valuable insight into how the State evaluates and prepares criminal cases.
Throughout his career, J. Scott has handled thousands of cases in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding area. His experience both prosecuting cases and defending people accused of crimes gives him a well-rounded understanding of the legal process, local courts, and the strategies that can be used to protect his clients.

Beyond the courtroom, J. Scott has been involved in a wide range of community and public-service activities. His experience includes serving in the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence in Washington, D.C., working on local and national political campaigns, coaching middle and high school mock trial teams, and working with charitable organizations throughout the community.
These experiences have helped strengthen his communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. Combined with his background as a prosecutor and Assistant Solicitor, as well as his years defending clients against a wide range of criminal charges, J. Scott brings a broad perspective to developing effective defense strategies for his clients.
